It seems as if with each passing day, something new is introduced into the technology world that changes the way people go about their daily lives. It’s amazing to think of the technological advancements that have taken place since the turn of the century, and the amount of knowledge is at our fingertips. While it is nearly impossible to encompass all of technology into a few hundred words, this content will take a look at some of the most valuable improvements in technology over the last few years, as well as the staples of technology that are currently in our lives.
Computers
If you ask a handful of people what technology is, you would presumably get an answer involving computers or the influence that computers has on our daily lives. After all, most of the technological advancements have come from, or at least are due in part because of, computers. The first computer was said to have been made in its most basic form in the 1940’s. This device was so large that it took up an entire room; much different than the laptop and net books that people have nowadays. It wasn’t until the 1970’s and 80’s that a race took off between the two powerhouses that make up most of personal home computers around the world, Microsoft and Apple.
Today, Microsoft and Apple still make some of the worlds most innovative and state-of-the-art technology. PC vs. Macintosh As mentioned in the preceding paragraph, the two most widely used systems in the entire world are those created by Apple and Microsoft. The difference between PC’s and Macintosh’s still remains quite different, with Microsoft being the much more dominate computing system on a world-wide level.
These two systems have become such a focal point in computing, that the likelihood of them ever not being as valuable is highly unlikely. While PC’s were much more popular in the 1990’s and 2000’s, Apple’s variety of products (including their iPhone and iPad models), have added to the value of their brand and the presence that they have on a worldwide market.
Smart Phones
It only makes sense, that with the popularity and importance of computers, that one day all of that information would be available right in the palm of our hands. What may not make as sense to some is that those days are already here and the number of people with smart phones continues to grow with each day. And as more and more people become reliant on their smart phones, the importance of the devices continues to grow as well.
Smart phones allow us to access our friends, our banking, our work, games, and so much more, without even having to get up from the couch to get on the computer. Smart phones are truly the technology of today and are changing the way that we look at technology in the future. Tablets With smart phones growing in popularity, so did the market for a mid-range product that was smaller than a computer but larger than a phone.
Apps
One of the newest explosions in the technology world is the popularity of apps. Apps allow you to do everything that you possibly could do on the internet, but typically it is more convenient with an app that is specific to the task. From an economic standpoint, apps have also added many jobs to the economy and given people a new career choice, allowing them to be involved in technology and making things from scratch. While apps originated popularity on phones and tablets, they are now useful on computers as well, which shows the diversity that the application market can attain to.
The Future and Beyond
While smart phones, tablets and computers run our lives today, the newest inventions are just around the corner. Companies are working hard to make computers that require nothing more than a pair of glasses and a your imagination. Other companies are working to capitalize on markets like watches, considering timepieces are something that people wear on a regular basis. What might be most amazing to understand is that aside from all the inventions mentioned in this content, something new could be introduced tomorrow that could change the way the entire world operates.
Technology has changed the way the world operates. Some will say that it is for the better, while others may question whether it’s a positive change or not. But what can’t be denied is the overall impact that it has had on the world. Technology will continue to change people’s lives as long as they seek to improve it. And with all its done for us civilization, it only makes sense that it’ll continue to grow and change the world as we know it.
